What it actually changes.
Wax sits on the paint for a few weeks and washes off. A ceramic coating bonds to it and stays, which is why the car still looks wet two winters later.
Deep gloss
Colour goes darker, reflections go sharper, and it holds for years instead of the few weeks you get from a coat of wax.
Water and grime off
Water can't get a grip on it. Rain beads and rolls, road slush and canyon dust don't bond, and the car stays clean between washes.
UV and chemicals
Utah sun at 4,300 feet fades paint the same way it burns skin. The coating takes the UV, along with bug acid, bird droppings and road salt.
Washes take minutes
Most of the dirt leaves with the rinse. No wax step, no polish step, no half a Saturday. Two buckets and a drying towel and you're done.
Better under Utah winters
Salt, mag chloride and freeway film all sit on the coating instead of the clear coat, and they come off easier when you get to them.
Not a force field.
Coating gets oversold everywhere else, so here's the honest version. It changes how your paint handles water, UV and chemicals. It does not make the car bulletproof.
It won't stop rock chips
A coating is only a few microns thick, thinner than a human hair. Gravel off a truck on I-15 goes straight through it into your clear coat. Stopping impacts is a physical job, and that's paint protection film — a thick clear protective film that takes the hit, and light scratches in it disappear with heat.
It won't wash the car for you
It makes washing faster and gentler, not optional. Leave bird droppings baking on a hot panel for a week and you'll still find a mark. Rinse it when you can and the coating does the rest.
The right pairing for a car that lives outside: PPF on the front end, coating over the whole car, ceramic tint in the glass.
The coating is the easy part.
Whatever is on the paint when we coat it is locked under there for years. That's why most of the job happens before the bottle is opened.
Wash
A full hand wash first, wheels and lower panels included, so no grit gets dragged across the paint later.
Deep-clean
Baked-in iron, tar and industrial fallout come out of the clear coat. Run your hand over the paint after this step and it's glass.
Polish out the swirls
Swirls and wash marks get polished out where the paint allows. New cars often need little. Daily drivers usually need more — we'll tell you which one you have.
Coat
Applied panel by panel and levelled by hand, indoors, so nothing lands in it while it sets.
Let it harden
The coating stays inside to harden before the car goes back into the weather. We'll tell you when it's safe to wash it.
Five habits, years of gloss.
A coated car is easier to look after than an uncoated one. It just isn't maintenance-free, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.
- Two-bucket hand wash with a gentle, pH-neutral car soap — skip the brushes at the drive-through
- Rinse bugs, bird droppings and sap off sooner rather than later
- Dry with a clean microfibre towel instead of letting hard water spot
- No wax and no polish on top — they only smother the beading
- Wash in the shade, and rinse the salt off after a winter storm

We don't publish a coating price, because there isn't an honest one. A new car that needs no polishing and a five-year-old daily full of swirls are two different jobs.
